From Teacher to Admin to SAHM
Hi, I’m Lynda—a mom, farmer, certified Texas science teacher, and big believer that every child deserves a joyful start to learning.
When my own toddler reached preschool age, I discovered in our community, there’s a real shortage of preschool options. Our entire county only has two preschools that use a curriculum, one is nearly $700 a month, one is low income based, and both have extensive waitlist. I know that early learning is a critical foundation—socially, emotionally, and academically—and I don’t want families to feel stuck because they couldn’t access the options available.
So, I rolled up my sleeves and began creating a preschool homeschool curriculum. I used my experience in education, research from leading early child education scientist and educators, and my own toddlers interest to create activities that focused on curiosity, creativity, and confidence, and that any parent can do with their child at home.
This blog is my way of sharing those resources with you—free, accessible, and adaptable for every family. Whether you plan to continue homeschooling or transition into a traditional kindergarten later, you’ll find tools, tips, and encouragement here to give your child the strong, confident start they deserve.
Where did the name come from?
In Texas, homeschool is considered a private school. To create a transcript for your students, you simply have to give your “school” a name. I’m a farmer and own a business called GG Acres Family Farm. Since I plan to homeschool my children—at least through middle school—I decided to use our farm name for our school.
The “GG” comes from our family last name, Guerrero-Goodspeed. The “STEM” focus comes from my deep love for science (I’m a HUGE science nerd!) and my belief that STEM teaches transferable skills for every part of life. In science, we’re taught to question everything, stay curious, problem-solve, and try again when we fail—skills that help in any field. Plus, so many life skills are rooted in science and math, from cooking dinner to doing taxes.
I chose the name GG STEM Academy because it reflects both our family roots and my mission: to equip kids with curiosity, creativity, and practical skills that last a lifetime.
Inclusive
We celebrate and welcome all families and children, honoring diverse backgrounds, learning styles, and abilities. Every child deserves a nurturing environment where they feel seen, valued, and supported to grow at their own pace. We aim to create content that benefits ALL children.
Responsible
We are committed to responsibly researching and fact-checking all content before publishing, so you can be at ease knowing the activities and information you’re giving your child are backed by science and research. Teaching respect, kindness, and thoughtful choices is at the heart of everything we do. Our children will learn responsibility through our example.
Creative
Curiosity is the spark that fuels discovery and lifelong learning. We aim to nurture a child’s natural desire to ask questions, explore, and imagine, knowing that every “why” and “what if” leads to deeper understanding and joy. Our activities are aimed at encouraging the creative mind of littles instead of demanding structure and compliance.
Collaborative
Learning is richer when shared. We encourage families, educators, and communities to come together, exchange ideas, and support one another on the homeschool journey—because we’re stronger when we learn and grow as a team. Follow us on SM or submit ideas for content on the contact page!
My Philosophy On Education
I believe preschool should be filled with wonder, laughter, and play—not rigid schedules and pressured expectations. Research shows that play-based learning is the most effective way for young children to learn. Play isn’t “just fun”—it’s the way children explore their world, develop problem-solving skills, and build a foundation for lifelong learning.
Children are born curious. When we feed that curiosity—by letting them ask questions, explore freely, and dive deep into topics that spark their interest—we help their brains develop in powerful ways. This natural curiosity is a driving force that not only teaches them new skills but also creates a love of learning that will carry them through life.
In contrast, a rigid, one-size-fits-all curriculum can sometimes stifle this natural drive. If a child is told their interests are “off-topic” or less important than the day’s lesson plan, their enthusiasm fades. If you want to do things differently and follow your child’s lead, using their passions as the starting point for hands-on activities that grow their minds, hearts, and creativity, my hope is this will be a place for you to find resources to support you in that journey.
You are in the right place if your goal isn’t to check off skills on a list—it’s to raise confident, capable, curious learners who see the world as a place worth exploring.

Homeschool Is More Than Just School At Home
Little ones learn best when life is their classroom—measuring while baking cookies, counting rocks at the park, asking “why?” a hundred times a day. Whether you don’t have access to a preschool or you’re choosing to prepare your child at home, a homeschool preschool gives them the same benefits in a way that feels natural, joyful, and led by their own curiosity.
